Congratulations to the Primary 7 boys on their victory today in the 2nd Round of the U11 EDCO Cup.
The game was played against a very strong Springfield Primary School at Paisley Park in damp and slippery conditions.
The first half saw St Therese take control of the game with great defending, passing and supporting one another. However, late in the first half, Springfield managed to create a chance to take the lead against the run of play.
The second half saw St Therese continue controlling the game and creating lots of opportunities. Midway through the half the equaliser was scored and the rest of the half saw chances at both ends missed forcing the game into extra-time.
Extra-time was unable to separate the teams which saw the game finish with the dreaded penalties. St Therese were successful with their first three kicks putting pressure on Springfield who hit the woodwork with their first effort. Needing to score their fourth kick to keep them in it, St Therese keeper pulled off an excellent stop to ensure progress to the next round.
Well done to all the boys. Today was the perfect example of a complete team effort.
