U11 Edco Cup 1/4 Final Vs Holy Cross Boys’ PS
The boys from St Therese of Lisieux took on local North Belfast neighbours, Holy Cross Boys, at the Waterworks on a bitterly cold and windy day. Playing with the remnants of Storm Bram still lingering, the game was a story of two halves.
St Therese played the first half against a strong wind which required them to be alert at all times as defence was quickly turned into attack with the strong wind behind HCB. HCB took the lead midway through the first half with a powerful headed goal coming from a corner. Despite going down, St Therese kept HCB on their toes creating chances but just not managing to execute them. Missed chances proved costly as just before half time, HCB scored two quick goals to take a 3-0 lead at half time.
Playing with the wind in the second half, St Therese worked hard to claw back to deficit but an assured performance from the HCB boys allowed them to control possession and break down any attacks. St Therese battled to the very last minute but were unable to get back into the game.
Well done to Holy Cross Boys’ PS and good luck in the semi-finals.
