St Therese of Lisieux Girls’ Cup 2026

22nd Jun 2026

On Thursday 28th May, the Waterworks Sports Facility played host to the second annual St Therese of Lisieux Girls’ Cup, bringing together five schools for a wonderful day of sport and teamwork.

Participating this year were St Therese, Holy Family PS, St Patrick’s PS and St Bernard’s PS, all of whom contributed to a highly competitive and enjoyable tournament. The event followed a round-robin format, giving each team the opportunity to face one another in a series of exciting matches.

Throughout the day, the standard of football on display was exceptional. Spectators were treated to excellent teamwork, determined defending, clinical finishing, and some truly outstanding goalkeeping. The commitment and enthusiasm from all players highlighted the growing strength of girls’ football across the schools.

After a closely contested round-robin stage, it was St Patrick’s PS and St Bernard’s PS who progressed to the final. The match itself was a thrilling encounter, with St Bernard’s taking an early 2–0 lead. St Patrick’s showed great resilience, pulling a goal back in the closing stages and pushing hard for an equaliser. However, St Bernard’s held firm under pressure and sealed the win with a late goal, securing the Girls’ Cup trophy for 2026.

A huge thank you must go to all the schools, staff, and players who took part and helped make the day such a success, especially during what is always a busy time of year.

We are already looking ahead to next year’s tournament, with hopes of continuing to grow the competition and providing even more opportunities to celebrate and showcase the fantastic talents of our girls.
