Dominican College, Fortwilliam Taster Day 2025

22nd Oct 2025

The girls from Primary 7 took part in the annual DCF Taster Day today as part of the start of preparing for their transition from primary to post-primary education.

Supported by the staff and pupils of DCF, the girls took part in numeracy and literacy workshops that allowed them to showcase their skills in a series of challenges. They were required to work in groups with children from St Mary’s on the Hill PS and used multiple strategies to solve their challenges.

As part of the numeracy tasks, the girls also took part in a series of dancing challenges which added to the fun of the morning session.

The afternoon literacy session was focussed around the Oliver Twist play that the children had watched at DCF last week and the teachers were able to draw out some fantastic ideas and language. The girls volunteered to stand in front of their peers and read out their creative thoughts as an orphan child, incorporating a range of authorial techniques to create suspense and intrigue.

On what was a very enjoyable day, every single girl was a fantastic ambassador for the school in both their efforts and how they conducted themselves. Well done to all who took part!
