Cumann na mBunscol Football Championship Semi-Finals 2026

30th Mar 2026

Match reports from the boys' and girls' semi-finals on Tuesday 24th March at the Brooke Leisure Centre.

Girls’ Semi-Final: St Therese vs Good Shepherd PS

In extremely challenging conditions—driving hailstones and a strong gale—the St Therese girls’ team faced Good Shepherd Primary School in what proved to be a spirited and competitive encounter. Good Shepherd adapted more quickly to the harsh weather and dominated the opening half, building a solid lead by halftime.

Despite the difficult circumstances, the St Therese girls showed tremendous character after the break. With improved teamwork, greater composure, and impressive determination, they outscored their opponents in the second half. Their fightback was admirable, but ultimately Good Shepherd held on to secure the overall win. It was nonetheless a performance full of pride and resilience from our girls.

Boys’ Semi-Final: St Therese vs Bunscoil na Fuiseoige

Conditions improved slightly for the boys’ semi-final, with the hail and rain clearing, though the strong winds persisted. Playing against the wind in the first half, St Therese found scores hard to come by, registering just a single point. Meanwhile, Bunscoil na Fuiseoige made better use of the breeze, going in at halftime with a 1–5 tally.

The second half saw a remarkable turnaround. With the wind at their backs and driven by renewed desire and determination, the St Therese boys launched a superb scoring surge. Their work rate, skill, and belief carried them through a tightly contested match, ultimately securing a well-earned victory and a place in the final.

Both our boys’ and girls’ Gaelic Football teams produced excellent performances in testing conditions. The school is immensely proud of their effort, teamwork, and sporting spirit. Well done to all involved!
